Summer is the most wonderful time for vacation. Every summer we have a big trip to the beach with my best friends. Jack is one of them. He is smart, funny, energetic, and friendly. He is tall with brown eyes, short black hair, and tan skin. Jack is always full of good ideas and he is a very good leader. Whenever he is around me and my friends, we always listen to him. Sometimes I don’t agree with him, sometimes I do. But we never fight. Richard is very energetic, and really funny. Cynthia is always calm and curious with a lot of questions.
One summer day, we went to play on the beach. A lot of people were there. It was very noisy. Seagulls were calling. Kids were running around and laughing. There was a nice breeze. The sun was shining bright. The waves were coming in and out, in and out. We were playing in the water while our parents were preparing barbeque. There came a cruise ship and we all went on for a short cruise. We saw so many animals, a shark chasing a dolphin, an orca jumping out of the water, and a humpback whale. It splashed everyone. We were all soaking wet. The cold ocean water showered me. Everything on me got soaking wet.The water was dripping off my hair. I was so cold when the wind blew, I began shivering . It was so fun. When we came back from the cruise, we went to have a snack under a tree.
A game we liked to play is to bury each other in the sand. First we dug a big hole with our hands then we used the sand we dug out to bury each other. Everytime we would make the hole deeper and deeper. I loved how my friends pretended to be suffocated while I was burying them. It came my turn. I stepped into the hole. The sand felt cool down in the hole. When they dumped the hot sand on me, it tickled and I also felt warm again, like on a nice warm summer day. When I was buried, I desperately wanted to get out of it, that made them all laugh seeing me trying to crawl out. When I was buried, the sand even got on my face. I am very glad that it didn’t land on my eyes and mouth.
When we finished burying each other Jack suggested that we find animals and build them a home. Off we went. While we were playing in the water I stumbled across a small hole. I thought, ” Wouldn’t this make a great home?” A few minutes later, Jack found the same hole and I said, “I found this hole first.” I started digging out the sand. Suddenly Jack said, “Right in that hole there is a big crab!” Everyone said” Where, where?” Jack pointed at it. It is bluish red and very big. It was waving its giant claws like saying “Get away or I will kill you!” It was so funny. Richard and I started digging it out of the hole with big rocks. The crab almost caught me with his claw. It tried to flee through the other opening. When Jack saw that it was escaping, he said ”Come on, this is our only chance and if we failed, this would be all my fault”. But I didn’t give up and I quickly blocked all the cracks in the rock so it could not get out. I used sand first, but the cracks were too big. I then grabbed small rocks and pebbles to fill the cracks. The parents said, “food is ready, who wants barbeque?” Everyone went except Cynthia and Richard. They said, “We will stay to watch out for the crab.” When we were done eating, we came back to look for the crab. While I was looking around the hole, I saw it crawling out of a crack that I didn’t seal all the way with pebbles. I grabbed a giant sand bucket and threw it over the crab. Everyone was cheering, “We got it, we got it!”
I had an idea, “Why don’t we build a sandcastle as the crab’s home?” Everyone agreed. We went to get rocks, seaweed, and wet sand. We used sand then rock and sand again to make the base. So it will be strong. To me it looks like Saint Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow. To make it we used dryer wet sand then we used a seashell to carve it into its beautiful shape. Eventually, we built a big castle of three feet wide and three feet tall. The castle has three floors, a place to eat, a place to sleep and a place to swim around. There was a deep moat around the castle and a pond inside for the crab to swim around. We also put seaweed, seashells, snails, and mussels in the castle for them to eat. We are so tired but really happy. We went to grab our parents to see it. There were lots of people taking pictures. We went to move the crab to his new home. Before we brought it to its house, we washed it but that was no use because it got sand all over it again. We dragged the bucket to the castle. We let it go and it scurried into the castle. Everyone was cheering “Mission accomplished!”
The sun was setting. It became golden and so was the water. Little by little, it got darker. Finally, it was very dark. It’s time for us to leave. We said goodbye to the crab and the sand castle. Next time I might find a family of crabs here.
