The New Puppy By Mia Zhao

There was once a girl who lived in Lala town. Her name was Olivia. She had chocolate brown hair, and shiny light blue eyes. Like many nine years olds she loved animals especially dogs. She had a brother named Liam, and a sister named Lily. Liam has darker brown hair, and light green eyes. Since he was 7, he was sometimes stubborn. Lilly had light brown hair, and blue eyes. Like most 8 year olds, she loved art.

 One day Olivia was at the market looking for some seeds when suddenly she heard,

“ MOVE ! YA MUTT!” 

She turned around and saw a mean looking man kick a poor puppy into the trash can. Once the man walked away she quickly ran to the trash can, where she found a tiny shivering fur ball. She picked the puppy up slowly and carefully,and ran all the way home. She had golden fur and light blue eyes.  To Olivia’s surprise the puppy was only as big as a ping pong ball, and was light as a packet of seeds.

Once she got the puppy home she put it in a pile of blankets, then ran off to find Liam, and Lilly.

“ Look what I have!” Olivia called to them, “ a little puppy!”

Olivia showed the bundle to them, and the puppy sat up. She yawned and looked around before jumping off the pile of blankets and started to sniff every one of them.

“ Hey stop!” giggled Lilly as the puppy tried to bite her leg, “ That hurts!” 

“ What should we name her?” asked Olivia with her blue eyes sparkling, “How about Bella?”

“Awesome!” yelled Liam and lilly together. After they all decided to go for a walk at the park, they went out the door with Bella hidden in Olivia’s shirt pocket.

The park had green trees, and an open grass field. In the lake there was light blue water, and a few fish. The park opened not too long ago and had lots of other dogs with their owners. Suddenly Olivia saw a big black dog running towards them barking loudly. Olivia looked down and saw Bella shaking. She immediately took Bella, and put her inside her shirt pocket. The dog barked at them, and started to walk in circles around them. 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes,suddenly the owner of the black dog came bursting out from the bushes.

“Fang!” he cried “Stop terrorizing those children!” 

Soon Bella stopped shaking and crawled out of the shirt pocket only to see Olivia, Liam, and Lily beaming down at her. She started to lick Olivia’s hand in thanks.

Soon the walk was over, and they had to go home.

“Should we tell mom and dad about bella?” asked lilly.

“ Why not” replied liam.

They walked into the living room and put bella on the floor where she sniffed everything.

“What is that!” asked Olivia’s mom pointing at a golden furball on the couch.

“That’s Bella,” said Olivia, “ Can we adopt her?”

“ Sure” said her mom as she picked bella up. Olivia, Lilly, and Liam triple hi-fived,

“ Yes!” squealed lily in excitement. 

The next day the whole family went to the market to buy a list of supplies they needed:a mini collar,a leash, a tinny water bowl, a little bed, and little chew toys.

“Look!” said Liam, “ They sell stuffed animals, and I think one of the dogs has a collar on it.”

The family strolled to the store and bought the stuffed dog. 

“Your right!” said their mom “ It does have a collar on it, and it’s leather!”

“ Let’s check off the collar on the list,” said liam.

“ Sure” answered Olivia, and scribbled a check in the yes box next to the word collar. 

Next they needed a leash. 

“Let’s split up,” said their dad.

“Sure,” said lilly. Their mom and dad both handed them $50, and off they went. 

Olivia went left, Liam went right, lilly went forwards, and the parents stayed there in case their children needed help.

The first thing Olivia saw was a doll shop. She walked over there, and saw that in the NEW section there was a doll holding a dog on a leash. She gave the owner $20, and ran back to her parents.

“WOW!” said her mom “ that was quick!”

“And we check the leash!” Olivia said to herself as she checked the YES box on the paper. Suddenly liam and lilly came running and said that they had got all of the items. 

“God” said Olivia, “ I thought I was fast, but you’re even faster!”

“ Let’s go home and give them to bella.” said lilly.

“Why not?” asked Olivia, and off they went.

Once they got to the house Bella jumped out. 

“ Hey mom,” said Liam, “ can we give bella the stuff by ourselves?”

“Sure” said their mom “ I’ll make dinner.” Olivia, Liam, and Lilly ran to an empty room and placed Bella on the floor. Suddenly Bella sneezed, there was a gush of wind and blew the siblings away. Luckily they only went out of the door, so they weren’t hurt.

“ Gosh” said Liam “ you don’t think that bella has the power of wind do you?”

“Looks like it,” said Olivia with wide eyes, “let’s go give bella the stuff.” The gang hurried inside and trying to be as quiet as possible sneaked back to bella. The things fit perfectly, and Bella loved them. Suddenly Bella sneezed again and blew them into the kitchen.

“Uh oh!” thought Olivia as the parents turned around to see them on the floor.

“What happened?” asked their dad suspiciously.

“We were teaching Bella how to fly!” said Liam quickly. His lie didn’t convince their dad, but he let them go anyway.

“ that was close” whispered lilly as they ran back to bella.

“Let’s not tell mom and dad, cus they will freak out,” said olivia. Liam and Lilly nodded.

The next day the family was going to a beach called “lala beach.” Olivia packed: 1 towel, sunscreen, an umbrella, a bunch of buckets and shovels, and a bathing suit. Liam and Lilly brought something similar to that. 

“Lets go!!!!” screamed liam,  and hoped into the car, the rest of the family followed. 

At the beach there was snow white sand and clear blue water. 

“Amazing !” cried lilly and started to put down her stuff, and was followed by the rest of the family. 

“Look” said olivia, “can we ride on that boat?”

“Sure” said their mom. Before they knew it they were riding in a little boat! Suddenly Bella started to sneeze. Olivia saw the worried looks on Liam and Lilly’s faces so she moved Bella into the middle of the boat so nobody would fall into the water.

“Choo!!!!!” said Bella as she sneezed super hard this time. The gust of wind created a big wave and splashed  towards the nearby city. 

“Oh no!” said Olivia, “a tsunami!” The family drove the boat to the shore and watched as the towering wave splashed onto the city. SPLOSH! The family raced to action, lilly, and Liam went to get towels and medical supplies and Olivia and her dad went on the boat to save a few people, and Olivia’s mom went to go get help. Zoom! Went the boat as they dodged floating metal and plastic.

“Look!” said Olivia “ over there!” Sure enough there was the mayor, on top of a floating raft. Olivia held out a hand and the mayor crawled onto the boat.

“Thank you!” he said “ thank you so much”

“Our pleasure!” said Olivia’s dad. After rescuing a lot of people, Olivia’s dad went to shore where Liam, Lilly, Olivia’s mom, and a crowd of people ready to help stood.

“Lets go!” said a lifeguard in the crowd, as people walked off the boat.

“ oh!” said Lilly suddenly, “ let’s make bella sneeze!” 

“ Great idea!”said Liam , “ does anybody have any peper?”

Olivia, Lilly, and Liam snuck towards Bella, and sprinkled some pepper on Bella’s nose.

“ choo!!!!!!!!!!!!!” said Bella as she sneezed. The water in the city started to ripple, then splash, and suddenly it picked off the floor and went back into the ocean. 

“ hooray!” Olivia said as she jumped up and down “ hooray!”

 Soon Olivia saw that helicopters were circling the city, help had come at last.

“What a day!” said Lilly as they got home “let’s take Bella to the vet.” and so off they went again.

At the vet Bella looked afraid. The injured pets scared her, so Olivia had to blindfold her.

“Bella!” called the vet as he popped his head out of his office “Lets go!”  

Bella wined and started to whimper as she walked over to the vet. 

There was a clang,wimper, boom,wimper ,clang,wimper, boom ,whimper.suddenly the vet came out with bella in his hands.

“She has the cold” he said, passing them medicine “take good care of her!” Soon Bella was back to normal, and she could control her wind now! 

One day the teacher announced that they were going to have a kite flying contest! On the big day there was no wind! 

“Aw!” said someone in the crowd “Why?”

“ let’s do this!” said Liam to Lilly “ Bella come on out!” Bella hopped out of Olivia’s shirt pocket and started to bark at the sky. Slowly the wind started to pick up.

“YAY!” cried the whole school, and the contest was on.

Now that Olivia’s parents know that, they said they will help keep Bella safe. And they did. Their dad made sure Bella was never alone, and started to work from home. Their mom made sure that bella was happy, and bought some security cameras and watched bella at work. Olivia and her brother and sister just did what they did.
